On your first visit to us, your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment; this will first involve a conversation where the physiotherapist will ask you questions about your injury/pain/condition e.g. when did it start, how it has changed, what makes it better/worse, are you taking any medications, what does your daily routine look like, what are your recovery goals etc. The physiotherapist will then conduct a clinical examination to assess the structures, condition and mobility of the affected area.
A diagnosis will then be discussed leading on to the establishment of a treatment plan. This plan includes a realistic estimate of the number and frequency of treatments you are likely to need, as well as outlining what you need to do in your own time to help speed up your progress.
Our focus is on reducing your pain and/or discomfort as soon as we can, and fully addressing the cause(s) so as to minimise the chances of recurrence or further problems down the line.
Loose comfortable clothing is usually best. Depending on part of the body concerned, a pair of shorts and/or t-shirt may be appropriate. You can change at our clinic. We also have spare pairs of shorts available at our clinic should you require.
No, you do not need to be referred by a GP or consultant. You can contact us directly for an appointment.
If you have been referred by a GP or consultant, please bring any referral letter / X-Ray / MRI scans / reports that you may have.
To optimise the recovery process, we will provide you with a personalised rehabilitation programme with appropriate exercises and information relating to the management of your specific condition. We strongly recommend that you complete the exercises as prescribed; not only will this speed up your recovery but it will ultimately allow you to save upon your overall treatment costs.
It is difficult to predict how many treatments without first seeing you. Your injury/condition will be assessed during your first consultation and a suitable treatment plan will be discussed with you. We always endeavour to achieve the desired outcome in as few sessions as possible.
