Shane Brennan

Senior Physiotherapist

Shane Brennan, Senior Physiotherapist at Mid West Physiotherapy, graduated with a degree in physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin in 2014. Shortly after graduating, he took up a position at University Hospital Limerick where he worked for 4 years. While there he developed a special interest and passion for treating patients after orthopaedic surgery – both elective and traumatic.

Shane then moved to London where he worked for two years in private practice; there he enjoyed a really interesting and varied musculoskeletal caseload, including the assessment and treatment of youth elite gymnasts.

Mid West Physiotherapy was delighted to welcome Shane to our clinical team in September 2021, where Shane has since progressed to the role of Senior Physiotherapist.

Shane’s clinical interests are sports injuries, musculoskeletal disorders and post-surgical rehabilitation. He is also a specialist in foot and ankle problems and orthotic prescription.

More Info

Shane specialises in the area of foot and ankle issues, including orthotics. He is passionate about providing high quality, evidence-based, affordable treatment to people with foot and ankle pain, as it’s something that he knows well both professionally and personally. In 2017, Shane suffered a tear in a ligament in his foot which required surgery and months of rehabilitation. At the core of Shane’s treatment approach is an understanding of biomechanics and anatomy, as well as an understanding of the patient, and a desire to keep treatment as simple and effective as possible. While his real passion is treating foot and ankle issues, his other clinical interests include; sports injuries, musculoskeletal disorders (injuries, pain, joint problems) and post-surgical rehabilitation.

He is an associate member of the Irish Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, as well as a member of the Association of Foot and Ankle Physiotherapists.

A keen Gaelic footballer, Shane played for the Clare senior footballers between 2010 and 2017. Since hanging up his football boots, he cycles and runs to keep fit.
