Mark O’Connor is a CORU-registered Physiotherapist with extensive experience working in a large acute teaching hospital. Alongside his role at Mid West Physiotherapy, he works as a Senior Physiotherapist in Older Persons Rehabilitation, where he treats patients with a wide range of complex neurological, orthopaedic and medical conditions.
Mark has a particular clinical interest in vestibular rehabilitation – the assessment and treatment of dizziness, vertigo and balance disorders. He has completed formal postgraduate training in vestibular physiotherapy and has developed his skills through close collaboration with a Clinical Specialist Vestibular Physiotherapist in the hospital setting.
During his hospital practice, Mark has assessed and managed patients with a wide variety of vestibular conditions. His experience includes identifying the underlying cause of dizziness, distinguishing vestibular disorders from other medical conditions, and treating Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) using evidence-based repositioning techniques. He has also played a key role in developing a screening pathway to improve the early identification and treatment of BPPV in patients presenting with falls.
At Mid West Physiotherapy, Mark provides comprehensive vestibular assessments and rehabilitation for people experiencing dizziness, vertigo, imbalance and persistent symptoms following vestibular disorders. He has a particular interest in more complex presentations that require detailed assessment and a structured rehabilitation programme, working closely with patients to improve their confidence, balance and quality of life.
Mark believes in taking the time to listen to each patient’s concerns, providing clear explanations and developing personalised treatment plans based on the latest evidence. His calm, thorough and patient-centred approach helps people better understand their symptoms and feel confident throughout their rehabilitation.
